Build Your House Exhibition 2021 will be held from September 20 to 22 at the Qatar National Convention Center under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, its organiser NeXTfairs for Exhibitions & Conferences has announced.
The decision came following NeXTfairs’ consultations with government entities, exhibitors and partners, and attests to its keenness to follow the decisions taken by the Council of Ministers, which led to a significant decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases in Qatar.
Rawad Sleem, Co-founder and General Manager of NeXTfairs, said, “The dates of BYH 2021 exhibition were finalised after a daily follow-up of the local market variables and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and after continuous discussions with all our exhibitors and stakeholders.”
He said they were 100 percent committed to moving the dates to September. Considering the rapid progress in Qatar’s vaccination programme and the great role played by the Ministry of Public Health and the entities concerned in combating the pandemic, most of the population in Qatar are expected to be fully vaccinated by August 2021 and the possibility of a third wave is highly unlikely, Sleem said.
“The date of BYH 2021 exhibition was chosen carefully, as the event will take place at a time where there are no other regional or international events specialized in construction, decoration or other related sectors.
Moreover, it coincides with the back-to-school season and the end of summer vacations for residents. Also, a comprehensive and accurate comparison regarding the trends of the local construction sector revealed that this timing is in the interest of the construction sector’’.

Sleem said NeXTfairs would provide a package of additional benefits for the exhibitors and participants in the BYH 2021 exhibition. The event will be held virtually via the DigiCon platform in parallel with its in-person version. DigiCon is a comprehensive electronic platform that provides the latest virtual communication technologies with interactive windows that mimic the traditional face-to-face exhibitions with customized features like exchanging agreements between participating companies, having private meetings and live broadcasts, creating user-friendly clients’ lists, in addition to easy access to digital content from anywhere.
Sleem revealed that NeXTfairs would provide that digital platform exclusively and free of charge to companies and entities participating in the 2nd edition of BYH 2021, representing an additional value for the exhibition and an extension for the live event at the Qatar National Convention Center.
Sleem indicated that NeXTfairs launched a series of interviews #BYHTalks with the exhibitors in the BYH exhibition during the previous period and a series of Featured Products displaying pictures of their products and projects and services to increase marketing promotions. Furthermore, he encouraged exhibitors to take part in these programs to enjoy the special marketing benefits that it gives to the participants, as it has received a great response on social media.
Sleem stressed that NeXTfairs is committed to providing global best practices in applying preventive measures against COVID-19 to preserve the health and safety of all visitors making the exhibition an ideal model for all specialized exhibitions held in Qatar’s future, as it follows the world’s best-known standards and guidelines on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Especially that NeXTfairs has signed a cooperation agreement with Boecker, the global leader in health, to implement the strictest measures against Covid-19 during the new version of BYH exhibition, providing the safest experience for both visitors and participants.
He added that the guidelines of the Qatar Clean Program will be followed during the exhibition, including daily disinfection of the exhibition, and thorough disinfection of areas reserved for meeting and communicating with visitors, especially reception halls and other places. Steps will be taken to ensure maintaining a safe distance between individuals of at least 2 metres, conducting temperature checks on all employees daily during the three days of the exhibition, immediately isolating employees when noticing any of the symptoms, and keeping in contact with the Ministry of Public Health, while applying the same rules to the participating companies.
Sleem affirmed that NeXTfairs is confident in the impact of BYH 2021 exhibition on the construction industry. As the second edition of the exhibition represents a unique event that has attracted about 200 local and international companies competing to provide special offers, various products, and advanced technologies in the fields of construction, architectural design, decoration, and contracting, in addition to the technologies of smart and green buildings. The exhibition this year is characterized by the diversity of the participants distributed over the government and private sectors and other international companies. Moreover, BYH 2021 targets Qatari citizens looking to build their own houses; to help them obtain ideas and information about building their new houses or renovating their existing ones. It has also become an important platform that connects visitors with contractors and consultants; to enable them to determine their options and make decisions related to the construction process.
Sleem said that NeXTFairs is organizing the second edition based on the tremendous success of the first one, which was well-received by the public as the surveys conducted by the company showed a very high rate of satisfaction from both visitors and exhibitors during the previous exhibition. The first edition attracted a large group of consultants, contractors and suppliers and deals worth more than 400 million riyals were signed, which confirms the importance of the event.
For her part, Petula Rahme, Exhibition Manager, said that one of the distinctive brandnew 2021 event’s features is the Conference “Knowledge and Technology Area” delivering workshops, Panel Discussions and Products Live Demos that will bring together a host of inspirational names to help visitors plan, procure, design and build homes fit for the 21st century with a sustainable future and smart home solutions. These seminars, conducted by futurist keynote speakers, experts and peers in the industry such as government entities, contractors, consultants, will get visitors involved in an interactive ‘huddle’ to take home new ideas and practical solutions that will introduce them to the various procedures and stages of building their houses, including how to get the necessary licenses for construction, the required documents, and all the information about the space standards for building a house, in addition to the state’s role in distributing lands over citizens.
She added that workshops would play an essential role in introducing the most critical security and safety standards that must be considered when building houses. Furthermore, the government entities participating in the event will present their experiences and ideas, offer advice to help visitors, and introduce them to the entire construction cycle, highlighting specifications and financing a teardown and rebuilding new houses. Therefore, the exhibition is an important platform that acts as an intermediary between visitors, contractors, and consultants to get the best results while allowing participants and exhibitors to build long-term partnerships and relationships with industry leaders and specialists.
